The school is inclusive and strives to cater for the needs of as wide a range of abilities as possible. Most admissions can be made on the basis of information gleaned from previous school’s reports and an interview with the appropriate teacher, coordinator or head of school. However, there are some needs that the school is not equipped to deal with so whilst there are no entrance tests as such for Reception through to Year 11, diagnostic tests may be applied in certain cases, such as:

Insufficient information is forthcoming from previous schools attended
Borderline age cases (to decide which year group)
Learning Support needs have been identified by the previous school and/or the parents

Initial screening, where appropriate, is coordinated by the admissions officer and conducted by the Head of Primary and Head of Secondary.

For entry into the A/S and A-Level, students may be admitted on the strength of their previous qualifications, but in the absence of such information may be asked to sit short entrance tests. Internal applicants to these programmes will be admitted on the recommendation of the teachers in a commission which meets in November each year.

Provisional offers of places may be offered pending the results of examinations when appropriate. Conditional offers are also issued in some cases. Conditions may include, for example:

  1. Further testing to ensure the school is able to offer the correct level of support,
  2. Commitment on the part of the student to make the required effort
  3. Commitment on the part of the student not to disrupt other students’ learning
  4. Commitment on the part of the student to abide by the school’s code of conduct
